Positano is a holiday destination appreciated for VIP vacations, the town develops vertically. A visit to the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta (celebrated on August 15th, the festival both honors the town’s protector and commemorates the ancient legend of how a ship carrying a Byzantine icon of the virgin Mary was beached in the village) with the recently discovered Roman villa are the highlights. But a look to the boutiques in the narrow streets can’t be forgotten!

After the spectacular “Amalfi Drive”, the town of Amalfi, clinging to the slopes of the coast, is characterised by the famous Dome (9th century). To the left of Amalfi’s cathedral porch, the magnificent Moorish-style Cloister of Paradise (Chiostro del Paradiso) built in 1266 to house the tombs of Amalfi’s prominent citizens; 120 marble columns support a series of tall, slender Arabic arches around a central garden. Definitely worth a stop, the Arsenale della Repubblica, where famous galleys, with over one hundred oars, were constructed and destined to commerce with the Orient.

Ravello famous for its tranquil and serene atmosphere, offers architectural gems of rare elegance. The 11th century Dome, the 13th century Villa Rufolo and the celebrated Villa Cimbrone (hosting many celebrities, from Winston Churchill to Greta Garbo) makes the town very special. Walking around the town, Moorish details are evident in the buildings, in the inner courtyards, gardens and churches. The narrow streets and pathways offer occasional, often unexpected, glimpses of marvellous coastal views.

You can spend more or less time in each of these towns; your driver will provide you with information of the area you are visiting but please note he is not a guide or historian. We recommend to have always your camera ready for photo stops along the way.
