Your personal driver, who will be holding a sign with your name, will pick you up from the port of Naples in a Mercedes vehicle for your private tour of Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. You’ll enjoy a scenic drive along the breathtaking coastal cliffs, passing by picturesque villages perched on the rocks. Your journey will start with a tour of Pompeii ruins where you can truly step back in time.
The archaeological site is vast and offers a hauntingly complete view of what daily life must have been like in this prosperous town 2,000 years ago. You’ll find baths, theaters, taverns, shops, and especially the famous houses of Pompeii – all of which still look remarkably sophisticated even after two millennia. One of the most notable aspects of this buried city is the hundreds of plaster casts that archaeologists have made of the volcano’s victims. As you head toward the land of the Sirens, get ready to enjoy stunning views of the Bay of Naples and the Island of Capri, with plenty of chances to stop for photos along the way.
Sorrento rises above the sea on a grand tuff outcrop, flanked by deep gorges. The town centre is “Piazza Tasso”, which takes its name from the author of “Jerusalem Delivered”, Torquato Tasso. The Cathedral, dating back to the 15th century, boasts a stunning frescoed facade and a lovely majolica clock; the Museo Correale di Terranova, an 18th-century treasure located to the east of the town centre and the San Francis Church from the 1700’s, located next to the Villa Comunale are the highlights of the town; and what about tasting limoncello, fennel and many others as you stroll through those narrow streets?
Positano sits beautifully on the Amalfi Coast, just south of the Neapolitan Riviera. The village is rich in history and archaeology featuring sites like the Santa Maria Assunta church, which dates back to the 13th century featuring a stunning Byzantine painting of the Black Madonna and the Villa Romana with a collection of defense towers built in the 16th century. And let’s not forget the shopping! Positano is particularly renowned for its unique leather sandals. You can pop into the little workshops scattered throughout the town’s alleys and order a pair tailored just for you.
Please remember the tour can be personalised/customized according to your wishes.
