Pompeii Sorrento Positano Excursion from Naples

Your professional driver (holding a white board with your name) will pick you up in a Mercedes vehicle from the port of Naples for your private tour of Pompeii, Sorrento and Positano. You will be driven along the coastal cliffs while passing beautiful villages clinging to the rocks. Your excursion will begin with the visit to the ruins of Pompeii, the best way to transport yourself back to ancient times.

The archaeological site is vast and gives a hauntingly complete picture of what daily life must have been like in this well-to-do town 2,000 years ago. Baths, theaters, taverns, shops and especially houses for which Pompei is so famous – all appear strikingly sophisticated, even 2 millennia later. The most famous aspect of the buried city, is no doubt the hundreds of plaster casts that archeologists have made of the volcano’s victims. Heading towards the land of the Sirens, you will enjoy spectacular views of the Bay of Naples and the Island of Capri with photo stops along the way.

Sorrento sits high above the sea on an imposing tuff outcrop with deep gorges. The town centre is “Piazza Tasso”, which takes its name from the author of “Jerusalem Delivered”, Torquato Tasso, born in 1544. The Cathedral of the 15th century, with its striking exterior fresco, triple-tiered bell tower, four classical columns and elegant majolica clock; the Museo Correale di Terranova of the18th century located to the east of the city centre and the San Francis Church from the 1700’s located next to the Villa Comunale are the highlights of the town; and what about tasting limoncello, fennel and many others in the narrow streets?

Positano lies majestically on the Amalfi Coast, just south of the Neapolitan Riviera. Historical and archaeological sites can be found in Positano: the church of Santa Maria Assunta dates from the 13th century and houses a famous Byzantine painting of the Black Madonna, and the Villa Romana with a collection of defense towers built in the 16th century. The village is also famous for its shops. Above all its characteristic production: the leather sandals. You can go in the little workshops (that can be found in the town alleys) and order sandals made-to-measure.

Please remember the tour can be personalised/customized according to your wishes.
